The folks at Alternative Health in Denver.

Dr. Thomas McCroskey, D.C., D.A.B.C.O.
After attending East High School in Denver, I attended the University Chicago where I received a bachelor’s degree with pre-medical requirements.  I received a doctorate of chiropractic (DC) from Cleveland Chiropractic College in Kansas City, Mo.  A five year post-graduate course in orthopedics led to board certification by the American Board of Chiropractic Orthopedists. I enjoy orthopedics which is the study of how the body moves because of a life-long interest in motion and athletics.

Neck and lower back pain associated with nerve pain is primarily what we treat.  You can live fee of pain even if you suffer from herniated or bulging discs that pinch nerves going to the arms or legs.  Sciatica or pain down the leg can be eliminated with spinal decompression used in conjunction with flexion distraction, manipulation, acupuncture and massage.

We go over stretching exercises to help manage lower back and shoulder pain. We also go over what activities to avoid.  Physical therapy such as ultrasound, electric muscle stimulation and heat are use to relax your body prior to adjustment or manipulation and traction when you visit our clinic. A healing soft laser may also be used.

Another option available is acupuncture which can be used as a primary treatment and/or in combination with manipulation and traction.  I studied for several years under Pao Huang at Ruseto College in Boulder, CO, where I also learned how to custom formulate crude herbs used in Traditional Chinese Medicine.

I recently released “The Return to Holism:  Alternative Medicine in the Modern World,” which is available for $14.95. The modern definition of alternative medicine is finally presented in a concise and easy to read format that explains the common basis in holism shared by the professions of chiropractic, oriental medicine, message, Ayurveda, naturopathy and yoga.  Understanding these fields requires awareness of the role that politics and economics plays in the health care system.

I successively helped lobby the Colorado State legislature for passage of a new law that provides for $5,000 in medical payments for treatment of injuries received in automobile accidents. Unless declined in writing, people automatically receive medical payments coverage as part of their automobile insurance. This coverage is available regardless of fault for treatment from licensed providers of chiropractic, acupuncture and massage. The law enacted in 2009 also eliminated “suborgation” which is a method by which insurance companies previously used to unfairly receive reimbursement from bodily injury settlements for medical payments for which premiums had already paid.

Gail Claire, Lc.M.T.
Our licensed massage therapist, Gail Claire, is highly skilled in therapeutic massage.  She uses a variety of techniques to release specific areas that are part of diagnosed musculoskeletal conditions.  Relaxing and chair massage are also available.

Bob Noel
Bob has been with the practice for over five years. He welcomes you with his friendly presence when you visit us.  He is profcient at handling all insurance claims. Aftert making a copy of your card, Bob calls your insurance company and determines benefits prior to treatment. In addition to filing for personal health insurance and Medicare, Bob also takes care of personal injury claims such as auto accidents, falls, workman’s compensation and other third party issues. In the absence of medical payments for people hurt in automobile accidents which is automatic regardless of fault, we also accept liens which means we will wait for reimbursement until after settlement is made for liability claims.
