Spinal Decompression

Spinal decompression therapy.

Hippocrates, the father of medicine, repeatedly referred to “manipulative traction” as one of the most powerful tools used by doctors. This ancient therapy of pulling on the spine is called spinal decompression or traction. Late in the last century a consensus was reached that intermittent traction was more effective than steady traction in the treatment of disc disease which led to the development of spinal decompression tables.

If spinal decompression is part of your therapy, you will be positioned on a flat table which splits to allow the vertebrae to be pulled by an electronic device. The strength of pulls is customized for your maximum comfort. Unlike other clinics with this type of equipment, your purchase of packages of treatments are not required although six to 12 sessions may be necessary.

I use flexion distraction and manipulation for nearly all lower back cases and recommend spinal decompression if necessary.
